With a flurry of rich and exciting shoegaze-inspired cuts under their belt this past year, New Rock-Based duo Bad Bloom are back at it again with their euphoric new single 'AUTOMATIC'.
Channelling the same broad and woozy direction they have showcased so far, 'AUTOMATIC' sees them return with one of their most vibrant offerings to date. With its sweeping textures and soaring melodies, these two are certainly setting themselves up for great things ahead.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with them to find out more about their background and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
Jay - Nirvana. I loved them as a teenager.
Kate - Whitney Houston. I loved all of her music when I was a kid.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
Jay - Yes, I was in mostly hardcore and punk rock bands in high school in my early 20’s.
Kate - Yes, I started playing in rock bands in 2008. They were mainly emo/post-punk projects. I then did some indie rock and dreampop projects when I moved to NYC IN 2010.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
Jay and Kate - Every day life. The little things that make you think and therefore you’re inspired to write about.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
That’s a hard one! Probably something complex and classical.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
Jay - I played a set with my band Earthquake in Germany. We sold out the venue, and the crowd wouldn’t let us leave until we played more songs. I’ll never forget that night.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Kate - Jenny Lewis
Jay - George Clinton
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
A collaboration with Beach House would be so fun!
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Recording more music, playing live and touring!
