After establishing himself with a wealth of rich and dynamic efforts over the last few years, fast-rising DJ and producer Bee Blizz is back on the grind once again with his bouncing new offering 'I Wish We Were Young'.
Bringing back more of that fresh and versatile electronic aesthetic he has built for himself over the years, 'I Wish We Were Young' makes for a brilliantly fun and refreshing listen. With its bold and enigmatic textures against a killer bassline, he is continuing his rise as one of the more distinctive names on the scene right now.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and influences over the years.
What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
My first introduction into EDM was The Prodigy. Their track “Firestarter" was my favorite.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I was never part of a band besides playing with the old church as a youngster. Other than that, I’ve always been solo. I got my first crack at doing a professional show as a DJ.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
I’ve loved music since I was born. I was given my first keyboard at 7 years old. I’ve always had an ear for music. If I can hear it, I can play it!
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
Although there was a bit of controversy over the originality of it, I think everyone loves “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve. Making music that makes other people smile is what I love the most about music.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
It would be when I played a warehouse show in Harrisburg, PA called “For the Plur". Awesome love during that show.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Avicii would have been my first choice but unfortunately that won’t ever happen. Now I’m not entirely sure. I could name a few. Paul Van Dyke, Tiesto, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren and many others. If I had to chose one I would have to go back to my years of listening to trance music and go with Armin.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
I’d have to say Paul Van Dyke because of his ability to produce a multitude of genres. Being open minded about music is something I believe to be key in order to be successful at creating.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
In five years from now I hope to be playing my creations in front of hundreds to thousands of fans. Lights, fire, lasers and other great producers around the world.
