GET TO KNOW: Blue Capricorn

After returning earlier this year with his stunning comeback singles 'THE STARS WILL ALIGN' and 'PALO SANTO', fast-rising artist and producer Blue Capricorn recently delivered his wondrous new EP '¡AYÚDAME!', featuring the atmospheric new offering 'WILL YOU AFFECT ME?'

As the final track from his newest collection, 'WILL YOU AFFECT ME?' looks to cap off this era of his sound with style and finesse. With its beautifully composed aura and mesmerising vocals layered throughout, he continues to shine throughout this immersive new outing.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Probably the Bee Gees. I had no business knowing all their hits word for word at the age of 7, but their music left a long lasting impression on me.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I never really formed a band when I was younger. I’ve always wanted to take the independent route with music even to this day. When I first started performing, I would always go on stage completely alone. Nowadays, I’m slowly starting to include more people on stage.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

I think having a diverse music taste and going to shows in my late high school early college days really pushed my desire to write music. One day I thought, “what would music sound like if I wrote it?” And so I decided then that it was for me. My dad was also a musician back in his day so I might have inherited an ear for music from him, which I will forever be grateful for.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

I always have a hard time answering this. There are so many songs I wish I would have written, but if we’re going for one, it’d be ‘Wait’ by M83.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

I don’t think I have one.. and that’s only because I feel like I’m just getting started. My first live set was memorable though! Seeing the support I had gave me the motivation to continue.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

So many… if I could share a stage with James Blake or the xx, my life would be complete.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

I can’t just pick one, so we’ll go for three! James Blake, Nosaj Thing & KAYTRANADA.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Man… hopefully touring internationally. Working on album #2. Playing music festivals. Marking my footprint in the music industry. Let’s manifest it.
