Following on from a string of enchanting releases in recent years, South African artist SEVVEN now makes his eagerly-awaited return to deliver his stunning new single 'Moments'.

Adopting a warm and heartfelt piano-led aesthetic for his latest outing, 'Moments' makes for a truly wondrous return for him. With his rich and shimmering vocals making a lasting impact from beginning to end, he is certainly looking to return with an almighty bang here.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Probably the 80s rock bands my dad used to listen to when I was a kid.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I have played in many bands over my career. When I just started out it was essentially all alternative and rock acts. As bands go they almost always eventually break up, and that’s one of the reasons I started SEVVEN as a project.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Just life in general. Music is a reflection of the things I see in the world, things I feel and  experience, and just inspiration I get from whatever other medium or art resonates with me.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

A hundred percent Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Mostly moments on tour. The magic is often in walking a new city with my friends. Finding the best pizza I’ve ever had in Cannes. But then I’d be hesitant to actually want to relive those moments, because it will take away from the moment I could be having now.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Not that it would make any sense for me to be there, but I’d love to be on a stage while Bon Iver is performing. Even if I’m just bringing the water.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

I am very interested in collaborating with artists from other disciplines. I’d love to see more projects that incorporate visual and physical art with music in interesting ways. I have some ideas on how to use a technology like Dolby Atmos in that space that can be a lot of fun to try do.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

I don’t know. I am way more concerned with whether I enjoy what I’m doing now. To plan for exactly what I want to do in 5 years seems like a fools game, especially because 5 years ago I couldn't imagine living the life I do now.

SEVVEN's new single 'Moments' is available to stream now. Listen to it below.
