Writer's picture: The Real DingThe Real Ding

Over the past few years, Nashville's Swoleei has established himself as one of the more innovative names doing the rounds. And with his profile continuing to grow, he returns once again to deliver his immersive new single 'jumpintheroad'.

Bringing back more of that broad and diverse aesthetic he has been crafting recently, 'jumpintheroad' makes for a stellar return to form for him. With its driven grooves and electrifying production throughout, he continues to shine as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most lately.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

The Beatles!!! They had a chokehold on me when I was a kid. Still not sure why, but the nostalgia resonated with me even at such a young age.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I always wanted to, like, so so bad, but never had any friends who appreciated music the way I did. Which is okay! I just had to decide to take care of the creative process solo. That is, until I met DG, my longtime engineer and best friend.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Inspiring others. My main purpose is to instill hope in a morally challenging industry by sharing my personal story and growth.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

This is a great question and definitely one I think about all the time. Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi. The nostalgic freedom is what resonates with me the most about that song. I was around 16 years old when I first heard the track, and I remember it being an important stage in my life for appreciating the “teenage freedom” as I transitioned into adulthood.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

I’ve had some groundbreaking moments for sure, but a specific one would be going back to Quality Control Studios. I was there as a fly on the wall, and for that, I’m grateful. Yet there was still so much to soak in. I am blessed to have met people in that building who could teach me a lot about life and the industry. The greatest blessing is our eyes and ears because you can learn so much by just observing.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Travis Scott. That might be a cliché answer, but he is a world-builder. That’s what I admire about him as an artist. It would be an honor to be accepted into his world.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Young Thug! He is one of my biggest inspirations musically. I would love to sit in a session with him soon. His loose approach and structure to instrumentals might be considered “anomalous,” but this is what makes him stand out.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Running marathons (not literally) with my #slimevesters! I truly pray and believe everyone reading this is capable of creating their own story. My biggest goal is to lead an army of believers into the void of the unknown without any fear of failure.
