GET TO KNOW: Tim Palm

Having already established himself with a flurry of impactful offerings these last few months, Swedish producer Tim Palm is now looking to cement his dynamic legacy to date with his eagerly-awaited debut album 'The Unknown Sea'.

Featuring a wealth of previously unveiled offerings, this new eleven-track collection makes for a brilliantly broad and immersive listen. With its driven grooves and infectious rhythms layered throughout, 'The Unknown Sea' perfectly elevates the vibrant streak he has been pursuing lately.

So with the new LP available now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

When i was young I was a lot into classic rock music such as acdc, but the first time I got hooked in electronic music was Swedish act Nause and the song Hungry Hearts, and then of course Swedish House Mafia and Avicii.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

I tried starting a band, with me as a vocalist and also a drummer and their Brother on keys. We met a few times, tried to write songs but it didn’t really take off. This was when I was into rock, but I never managed to write things how I wanted it to sound like.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

My inspiration comes mainly from moments, and being with people, and scenarios. Basically vibes I’m experiencing. I try to capture the vibe and translate it into music. I have also always been fascinated by the human voice. It’s something unique with every person’s voice and creating sounds from voices gives an id and also is something that can’t be replicated without that person.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

This is such a tricky question and honestly something I haven’t really thought about. Does this mean I steal the song from someone else haha? But to sort of answer the question I think Fred Again.. did a great job turning a very global feeling into a song in: we’ve lost dancing.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Tricky one as I’m really excited for the future, but the vibe at the recent release party of the album, I could stay in forever! Will never forget! Another crazy one was performing in South Korea. I was there for only 4 days but those were some of the craziest days/nights of my life. I ended up on TV and playing an extra night set in a basement club before flying home.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

At the moment Fred Again.. seems to have soo much fun! But the kid in me would not forgive me if I wouldn’t answer: Swedish House Mafia.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

I would love to do a song with Elderbrook! Really cool style and voice that I’ve been  enjoying a lot the last few years. And I think our sound would match really well together but at the same time create something unique.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Moonshot goal is to have a million before turning 31. Turning 27 now in October. But at the minimum in 5 years time I see myself making all my income from creative work with the focus being on artistry and creating music. And a looot more gigs! I really love performing live!
