After originally breaking through with their initial offerings 'Hanky Panky' and 'Zodiac' back in 2019, emerging outfit Virtue Scripts, a collective driven by Prudence Oliver, return to deliver their eagerly-awaited new single 'Heading For The Light'.

Channelling a wonderfully bold and immersive aesthetic for their comeback, 'Heading For The Light' makes for an incredibly engaging listen. With its rich and alluring atmosphere permeated by passionate vocals throughout, they are certainly looking to make a strong impact with this one.

So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with bandleader Prudence Oliver to find out more about her origins and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

Michael Jackson

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

No, I didn’t.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

This is probably going to sound cliché, but I genuinely make music that people will love and connect to. Especially my recent track, it’s to keep all listeners motivated to stay positive. Plus, to advocate all the positive bright lights for others to follow.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

It would have to be “Old Town Road” as it held the record for the longest stretch at 19 weeks in the US charts, who wouldn’t want a number 1 spot? Or “All I want for Christmas” as it’s number 1 in most countries every year at Christmas times. They would be my two.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

Probably to have started my music career earlier. But then it was harder in the past so I would say I wish I had kept all the songs I penned but throw away. I didn’t believe in myself and saw all I’m doing now as a dream and unreachable due to the stereotype. But the industry has definitely changed, a bit for the better for artist like myself.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

I would love to have written a song and shared the stage with Whitney Houston. What an honour that would have been.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Today’s artist I’m open to working with most.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I would love to win an award of some kind. Plus release more material to build more fan base, writing stuff fans love, relate and connect to.
