GET TO KNOW: X Revolution

After establishing himself with a breadth of dazzling delights this past year, fast-rising rapper X Revolution is back at it once again with his impactful new single 'Generals Theme'.

Bringing back more of that dark and progressive aesthetic he has been crafting for himself, 'Generals Theme' marks another bold step forward in his immersive direction to date. With its thunderous production and textured atmosphere throughout, he is certainly looking to turn some heads with this one.

So with the new track out now, we sat down with him to find out more about his origins and what has been inspiring him most lately.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?

I think it would have been Tiesto. The epic breakdown in his song ‘Adagio For Strings’, gives such a dark, cinematic feel to it. I really loved the euphoria it gave at the time when I was a kid.

Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?

Yes and no - it was formed mostly by the music college I attended back when I was 17. It was a mix of so many genres - so I’d say it sounded like a multi-genre band, with many sounds and influences.

What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?

Innovating with structure and finding a healthy medium to express my deep seated emotions.

What is a song you wish you had written yourself?

Tough question this one! I would say ‘Meridian’ by ODESZA. I can already feel how epic it would have been to find the tribal chants in the song and sampling them. Writing around that would have felt amazing, I’d imagine.

If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?

I can’t really say as I am just at the beginning of my career. Once I have achieved some accolades/milestones, then I can definitely ponder on that.

Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?

Action Bronson, I would love to be dramatic and theatrical with him on  stage. I love a good laugh as well.

And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?

Martin O’Donnell, he is an absolute master at his craft of composing. I  know my style of music would compliment a composer as such, very well.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Writing featuring music for T.V./Film/Games. If I was to ever score, it would  have to be for my own sound.
