After making waves with their debut single 'wating2die' in 2021, a release that went onto garner more than 100k streams in its first few months, mysterious producer xo purp is back once again to unveil the glittering new single 'nova'.
Bringing back more of that rich and inventive alt-pop direction they are known for, 'nova' sees the artist in a fresh and renewed spirit throughout. Filled with rich and shimmering textures throughout, they are definitely looking to make a huge impact with this one once again.
So with the new single available now, we sat down with them to find out more about their background and influences over the years.

What was the first band or artist you fell in love with?
The first artist I remember listening to was Michael Jackson. I was at a screening of a movie in this playground when I was a toddler and they played the Thriller music video after it and I got really scared but later that day my parents showed me him and I became a big fan.
Did you ever form a band when you were younger and if so, what did they sound like?
I never formed a band when I was younger but I’ve been making music and just messing around since was a young child.
What has been your primary inspiration in writing music?
Honestly writing music is just therapeutic for me. I treat writing my lyrics almost as if I’m writing in a diary. Music helps me cope and deal with problems in my life and it makes me happy to know it helps other people too.
What is a song you wish you had written yourself?
At the moment I have to go with Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody. I’ve been listening to a lot of classic rock and pop songs to really expand what I listen to and that song is just so epic and theatrical.
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
I would like to relive the feeling I had when I released my first song “waiting2die”. Releasing a song when you’re at zero is such a scary feeling since you have no idea what will happen and you’re starting from the ground up.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Definitely stardante. Me and him are brothers and I hope me and him can perform live together and even go on tour together in the future.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
I mean my dream collaboration is probably Twenty One Pilots just because I don’t think they’ve ever collaborated with anyone ever since Tyler Joseph had his brother on one of their earlier songs Kitchen Sink.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Ideally I see myself going on tours around the world with stardante and releasing really epic music.
