Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aka Self Esteem, returns with the striking new single 'If Not Now, It’s Soon', alongside a video directed by longtime collaborator Piers Dennis. The track, which debuted as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, is the third to be released from her hotly anticipated new album 'A Complicated Woman', arriving on the 25th April via Polydor Records.

'If Not Now, It’s Soon' is a pulsating anthem rooted in reflection and resilience. Drawing from Taylor’s own pre-fame years—marked by self-destruction and emotional chaos—the track wrestles with self-accountability and survival. “You wonder who it was who made the choices in that town,” she sings, confronting the ghosts of her past with unflinching honesty.

The song also features a spoken-word interlude from acclaimed actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, delivering a powerful line: “Something will happen because it’s got to – it’s not just perseverance we need, it’s patience.” That balance—of pushing forward and learning to wait—is at the heart of the track. “Personally, you have to wait and one day you’ll get somewhere less painful,” says Taylor. “But the world will hopefully get somewhere less painful too. It’s about hope, perseverance and patience.”
