After kicking off 2025 with a huge collaboration with Royal Blood on 'My Blood', The Amazons keep the energy high with their latest single 'Love is a Dog From Hell'. The fierce and electrifying track is the newest preview of their upcoming fourth album '21st Century Fiction', set for release on the 9th May.
Produced by Catherine Marks (boygenius, Foals, Wolf Alice) at Real World Studios, 'Love is a Dog From Hell' is relentless, raw, and brimming with Southern rock swagger. The track fuses twangy, blues-infused riffs with The Amazons’ signature stadium-sized intensity, creating an intoxicating mix of country grit and rock’n’roll urgency. Lyrically, it’s a tale of temptation, self-sabotage, and the thrill of chaos before the inevitable crash.
Frontman Matt Thomson shares the song’s inspiration, “It’s rare for us to be able to pinpoint an exact time and place that inspired a song but, this time it’s easy. Skylight Books, Los Angeles. That’s where Dolly Parton’s ‘Mule Skinner Blues’ first floated in through my ear canals and burrowed into my brain, to live happily forever.”
”‘Love is a Dog From Hell’ is a song of temptation, self-sabotage and how fun the ride can be just moments before it hurdles over a cliff edge.”
