The Trusted - 'Iridescence'

Writer: The Real DingThe Real Ding

Over these last few years, Southend-On-Sea's The Trusted have been seen as one of the more innovative names on the UK's underground pop-rock scene. Blending this rich and passionate approach to songwriting with truly anthemic hooks as often as possible, their tenure to date has been filled with enormous energy that never seems to let up as the years go by. And after the roaring response to last year's 'Lost Soul' EP, they are back once again with 'Iridescence', a collection that continues that wondrous reputation once again.

Kicking off with the previously shared delight 'The Lightning', we are instantly gifted a strong and impactful understanding on what to expect from this new EP. From there, the four-piece look to play fast and loose with both texture and emotion; sometimes delivering a raucous energy, and other times a more subdued moment. Either way, 'Iridescence' makes itself as big and commanding as possible, building upon their notable knack for stellar hooks with an irresistible tone to boot.

These last few years have certainly been some of their busiest on record, but 'Iridescence' shows there is still plenty of fresh ideas coursing through them right now. Moving with this rich and subtle elegance as it plays, The Trusted remain a passionate force doing the rounds right now.
